Hello Writers
I am doing something new and a little different for my book launch. Well, it is new to me, but since I am still new to being a writer, it may have a history I have missed. I am using a workshop approach.
Here is an outline of how this will play out.

Using this format makes sense and works for me. I spent many years as a conference speaker and workshop presenter, and I love to have fun and share stories. I know you will not be attending, but I wanted to share it with you as I thought you may be interested in hearing about it. I will let you know how it turns out.

More Thoughts.....More Writing Talk
My book is available at the Friesen Press book store and will be available on Amazon and other book stories shortley. In my work life, I never doubted my career choices and my own abilities, and I knew I could do it all and be successful. I do doubt myself as a writer. Maybe this is because I started so late in life. Maybe it's because I am not as good as I want to be. Whatever, I don't expect to sell many copies of my book, and in the end, it was never about selling them anyway. I will be fine.
I am submitting a short story to an upcoming anthology called Beaver Moose Canoe. It was fun to write a Tall Tale. It may not be selected, and that's okay. I will put it in my short story collection, and someday I will use it somewhere.
I remember submitting a short that I thought was great to a writing competition in Ireland. I feel an affinity for Ireland and the Irish. My maiden name is Kennedy, and I am a proud Canadian with a little Irish in my heart. I was excited to think I might win and travel to Ireland, but I didn't.
I have learned that we all have different ideas about what a great story is. LOL. I still love that story, and someday, I will submit it somewhere else.
I also submitted a flash fiction story to an online magazine, and it was rejected. I believed in it, so I sent it to another online publication, and it was accepted. The story is called Love and Gas Money. It is on my website if you would like to read it.
If you are a writer, if you love writing, keep writing and keep believing in yourself!
My cozy novel is not going well. I still am enthusiastic about it, but self-publishing my book has derailed me. I am worried about my book launch, not the workshop or what I have planned. I am worried it will not be well attended. As you may already know from my last Gates Open blog, I have developed my own self-marketing plan and the big focus is the book launch. Sometimes I regret my willingness to put myself out there, and it seems harder at 76 years old than it did before. But, no worries, I will do it, and my goal will be that the people who come have some fun and enjoy sharing stories.
So, did I tell you how much I am done with winter? I miss all those hot winters we used to spend in Florida. It is so sad to see how our world has changed. To those of you who live in the US, love, goodwill and acceptance of good men and women everywhere will conquer hate. I keep the good people in my thoughts always.
I hope you are well and warm, and writing:)
Take care
Gail
