WRITING ON THE SENIOR SIDE

It started with my (October 22, 2022) email pitch to David, the publisher of The Haliburton County Echo:

What: a monthly column or periodic guest author submissions
Title: Writing on the Senior Side
Description
- short stories; creative non-fiction about senior life in Haliburton
- focus on doing what you ( a senior) always wanted to do
- personal but never private anecdotes, happenings and thoughts, etc.
- no events, no selling, no promotion of community events, no association with non-profit groups
- humorous and thoughtful looks at life
Audience
- all your readers
- will be especially meaningful to seniors and should evoke comments and responses
- should be enjoyed by all

My first Writing on the Senior Side story appeared on the November 10th. 2022 issue of Haliburton County Echo / County Life. The editor asked me if I could submit a story every other week. Wow! I said “Yes!”

Here I am, two years and five months later, still writing and submitting a story every other week. I have kept all the print copies of County Life. Perhaps someday, one of my grandchildren will become the keeper of the archives. The stories are free online. I have shared them on my Facebook page and now you can find them right here on my website.
I hope you enjoy reading one, a few, some, many or even all of them.
